The Purpose of Moms In Touch International

To pray that our children will receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, then stand boldly in their faith.

To pray for teachers and staff.

To pray that teachers, administrative staff, and students would come to faith in Jesus Christ.

Gideon Tsang

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I went on a young adult retreat for Watermark Community Church of Dallas. It was held at Pine Cove Camp in Tyler, Texas. I usually don’t do camping, or more I haven’t in a long time…but besides the mosquitoes, it was really a wonderful event that I’m so glad I went on. Having my best friend their though to listen when I complained about bugs, was priceless and probably the only way I managed to make it through that first night. She actually switched bunk beds with me because I was freaking out over the bugs by my bed! That’s a real friend for ya. She said they don’t bother her, but how could a bug not bother you? lol She is just an amazing example of self-sacrifice all the time though. I doubt I would of stayed through the first night without her. And the other part that made it great, was how much God was working all around us.

They had a main speaker come to lead the group and he was awesome! His name is Gideon Tsang, and I found his church’s podcast the next day when I got home and downloaded them all….I just uploaded them below here, so you can listen to them for free if you’d like. They are all great. He has a way of telling bible stories and making them come alive. His church, Vox Veniae, is located in Austin, Texas and I will visit next time I’m down there.I never got a chance to speak with him or thank him for how his words impacted my life alone, because he was always surrounded by so many people. I will next time I visit Austin. One line of his lines is now my favorite phrase to quote…

He told how his professor in Seminary once said to him, after he had given a horrible sermon for class, that “Gideon if the Lord can speak through Balaam’s ass, he can speak through you.” I just love that quote! He’s referring to Numbers 22:23, when Balaam’s Donkey speaks to Ballaam. I will use it now whenever someone says (or I say) “I feel like I just can’t do the word’s justice” or refer someone else to read the scripture in a group setting. I think it’s just a great line! And if I were a teacher of any Sunday school class or group like it, with kids afraid to speak in public, I’d use this story as an example !

21Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the princes of Moab.22But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the LORD stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.

23When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat her to get her back on the road.

24Then the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow path between two vineyards, with walls on both sides.25When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam’s foot against it. So he beat her again.

26Then the angel of the LORD moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left.27When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat her with his staff.28Then the LORD opened the donkey’s mouth, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?”

29Balaam answered the donkey, “You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.”

30The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?”
“No,” he said.

31Then the LORD opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.

32The angel of the LORD asked him, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.[1]33The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared her.”

34Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, “I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back.”

35The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, “Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you.” So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

36When Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the Moabite town on the Arnon border, at the edge of his territory.37Balak said to Balaam, “Did I not send you an urgent summons? Why didn’t you come to me? Am I really not able to reward you?”

38“Well, I have come to you now,” Balaam replied. “But can I say just anything? I must speak only what God puts in my mouth.”

39Then Balaam went with Balak to Kiriath Huzoth.40Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and gave some to Balaam and the princes who were with him.41The next morning Balak took Balaam up to Bamoth Baal, and from there he saw part of the people.

I have been Blessed

God has blessed my life so much. I want the whole world to know how wonderful He is! I used to think I had it bad and was even being punished. Then I started to let go and give it all up to God and then He let me see all the amazing things he had in store for me! I never want to “have everything” of this world. That would be almost a curse if it were given to me now. It is too hard to see God when your surrounded by such excess, I admire those that can be rich and powerful and still have a personal relationship with God. I say “bring on the rain” God, if it lets me get closer to You.

Prayers for Sept 14 – 20

Sept 14
Thank You, Jesus, for walking the road to the cross. In view of the joy set before You and Your Father’s will, You made the ultimate sacrifice. I love You.

Sept 15
Forgive me, Lord, for how I seek my own gain, instead of seeking to be poured out for Your glory. Let me follow in the footsteps of Christ today.

Sept 16
Lord, raise up workers for the harvest. Raise up generous givers who will support those adopting and those caring for orphans.

Sept 17
Father, set the lonely in families. Specifically I pray for the family adopting Brock, Cody, and Devon. May they be richly provided with all they need in You.

God, Defender of the orphan, rise up and secure justice for the oppressed. Restore property and opportunity to those children who have had them stolen.

My Diary from the day of Birth

I have been meaning to write the story of my pregnancy, and all the time surrounding it, down for a long time now. I want to have it to give my daughter and her family someday. I have this little problem though….I’m a master procrastinator and it is the things most important to me, which I procrastinate over. Basically, the more meaningful the task is to me and the more I want to do it, the more anxiety I work up over it! It’s horrible because one of the most important things in my life is keeping an open communication with the adoptive parents of my daughter. So, of course, I have found a way to put of writing them any letter! I don’t know why I’m so worked up about it. I have written a dozen “rough drafts” now. Maybe it feels like I have to much to say now for it to make sense…I have 5 months of things to cover!

I promised myself though, that by my birthday (the 13th of September..which is tomorrow, and also my daughter’s 6 month-day too! Isn’t that cool) I’d have the letter written.. So now I have one day left but I’m still determined to finish. It’s hard because it’s an emotion packed thing and because it means so much as to the future of my correspondence with them. I wanted so badly to set off my first letter in a timely fashion and it be “perfectly” written too…saying everything I wanted to say and everything they wanted to hear. So I psyched myself out for six months and now am just rude if I don’t respond soon. So that’s my goal…still.

I meant this post to be the first writing of some of my birth story/diary. Some is probably too personal, but a lot is just basic stuff I’m sure a lot of birth mom’s feel after their baby is born and they go home without them. I see so many birth mom diaries online and I get fairly frustrated because (and this is wierd I know) I think mine is so much better and that I love my daughter so much more compared to their writings…I know this is so horrible and mean to think too! It’s just I was barely breathing without her, and I so wanted to hold her! I guess I want her to know someday how much she was ALWAYS wanted all the time. I’m not writing it for attention either. I hope it doesn’t come across that I’m looking for a pat on the back or praise. I just really want to be able to write my story as a birth mom, like all these other girls have done publicly. I think it will be good for me too. Mainly because I want to read over what I wrote back then and process it. Right now, everything I wrote is in a different notebook or on some random paper I found at the time…so it will be good to collect them and organize my thoughts. So, that’s what I’ll write about in my next post…Chapter 1 of the birth mother saga..haha. I actually don’t know where to start. The diary I kept, before I realized I was pregnant, is pretty hilarious too. For now I’ll just start with the day the most beautiful, perfect, awesome girl in the world was born!

Good Insight from Scripture

Acts 22

Upon his arrest at the temple, Paul attempts in vain to justify his message to the Jews.

INSIGHT
Even though Paul lives in complete recognition of the will of the Lord and acceptance of the sovereignty of God, he is not passive regarding his personal welfare or the welfare of his mission. Paul knows it is illegal to punish a Roman citizen without his being tried and found guilty. When he is about to be beaten, Paul brings up this issue and is spared. Acceptance of the sovereignty of God does not mean passiveness in the things of this world. Paul does what he can within the legal system and then leaves the results to the Lord.

PRAYER
Because the Lord is sovereign, we praise Him and trust in His goodness on our behalf:
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3).

Pause for praise and thanksgiving, and pray this confession to the Lord as you seek to keep your life free from sin:
O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself;
It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.
O Lord, correct me, but with justice;
Not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.
(Jeremiah 10:23-24)

Confess any sins that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind, and pray this affirmation to the Lord:
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. (Hebrews 11:1-3)

As you make your requests known to the Lord, include:

Greater wisdom in decision making
The needs of personal friends
Your activities for the day

Finally, offer this closing prayer to the Lord:
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore. (Psalm 121:7-8)

September 11, 2008. Seven years later, families continue to heal from the loss of their loved ones. Seven years later, our country continues to defend us from those who wish to cause us harm. Seven years later, a nation comes together to remember all who fell and all who continue to fight for our freedom.

In honor of the lives lost that horrific day, we pause, to remember and to pray. Wherever you happen to be as you read this, take a moment to lift up in prayer all those affected by these tragic events. Write your prayer on our Prayer Wall to respect the memories of those gone. Light a Candle in their honor.

Seven years later, let us all remember to never forget.
